Description:
A free seminar entitled "The Top 10 Signs That Your Aging Parent May Need Help" is designed to provide adult children with practical information that could help their families when an elder relative is contemplating surgery that requires rehabilitation or suddenly needs assistance while they recover from an illness. The presentation will be combined with an after-work wine and cheese reception on Tuesday, October 30 at 4:30 p.m. at The Watermark at Logan Square. The Watermark features a 5-Star rehabilitation center in the heart of Center City at Two Franklin Town Boulevard, Philadelphia just off the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
In a relaxed setting, Jen Quinones, Administrator of skilled nursing and rehabilitation at The Watermark, will use laymen's language to address three key concerns often expressed by adult children and explain options that provide peace of mind.
• She will describe short term rehabilitation, typically utilized by those who are essentially healthy and independent, but who may require a few weeks of therapy after planned surgeries.
• She will also explain what medical help exists when there is sudden illness from which the parent will likely recover and then return home.
• The third is often the most concerning: the top ten tell-tale signs that suggest it may be time to consider ways to support elderly relatives who need additional help with daily living and personal safety.
"As Americans live longer, we are seeing a greater number of people in the 'sandwich generation' - the adult caring both for their growing children and for their aging parents as well," explains Theresa Altopiedi, Director of Marketing for The Watermark. "We are working with and helping more people from this 'sandwich generation' than ever before. They have their own dependent children and then they suddenly have to add in time to coordinate care of their parents. This is a generation of people who are great researchers who are eager to educate themselves so they can provide what's best for everybody. With this seminar, they don't have to wait until their parents have an immediate need. It may open the door for a comfortable dialogue long before there's any urgency for decisions, support or a care plan."
And, better than a Google search, attending this seminar provides eye-witness assurance that rehabilitation can include abundant choices and a high standard of amenities. The skilled nursing and rehabilitation center at The Watermark offers the atmosphere of an upscale hotel while providing best-in-class medical environment for elders who require physical, occupational or speech therapy. With its location just off the business district of Philadelphia, the location also provides convenience for those who live or work downtown to visit with their parent on a regular basis as they restore their strength and mobility and prepare to return home.
Advance registration is required for the seminar on October 30 and seating is limited. To attend or learn more, please call The Watermark at 215-240-8915.
