BIO:
Jan Schakowsky has been a lifelong consumer advocate and a champion for, what she sees as, the disappearing middle class. She is proudly pro-choice, favors marriage equality and comprehensive immigration reform. Jan was a founding member of the Out of Iraq Caucus in the U.S. House. She co-chairs the Democratic Senior Task Force which focuses on addressing the needs of older Americans.
Dr. Trivedi is an Iraq War Veteran and primary care physician who was born and raised in Berks County, PA, where he lives with his wife Surekha and one-year-old daughter Sonia. He is the son of immigrants from India who settled in Fleetwood, PA and worked at the old Red Cheek apple juice factory. As a Lt. Commander in the Navy, Dr. Trivedi served with the Marines in Iraq as a battalion surgeon, where he was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy Commendation Medal. An expert on public health and Veteran's health care, Dr. Trivedi has also been recognized for his work with HIV/AIDS patients and has treated poor and uninsured communities in the inner city.
